The Farmland Bacon Fest, held in Kansas City, is something that we were extremely proud to be apart of. First and foremost, it was held in honor of a good cause. Portions of the proceeds were donated to the Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City. Their main focus is to help disabled individuals gain independence in their lives. The event was held in Kansas City’s own beautiful and historic Union Station. The number of bacon related attractions were enough to keep even the most extreme of bacon lovers busy. Some of the highlights of the event were: The chance to meet fellow, Kansas City native and residing bacon fans. Never ending samples of bacon and everything bacon-related. The intoxicating smell of bacon…all day! A bacon eating contests with a $500 cash prize. Even, a bacon VIP lounge.

Lollapalooza was founded in 1991 by Perry Ferrell He is known by most as the front man of the alternative Los Angeles based rock band Jane’s Addiction. He created this festival with the intention of it being a goodbye tour for his band. The festival is a yearly music event that features a wide range of musical acts. Past performers have included artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, Coldplay, Lorde, Lady Gaga, The Article Monkeys, and many more. The festival is held in Grant Park, Chicago but also has a leg in Santiago, Chile. In the past it has been held in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina as well. What really catches people about Lollapalooza is the crazy name. The previously mentioned Perry Ferrell first heard this word while watching a Three Stooges film The word basically means something that is exceptionally strange and could be, but is not limited to, a person, place, or thing What more can we say about printing at this live event other than that it was a dream come true. Many here at the shop are huge fans of the bands that played. We had the opportunity to help a local clothing company, along with some of the local less well-known bands, strengthen their marketing presence and had a great time with the process. This is something everyone that attends had been looking forward to all year, everybody was exceptionally fun to work with as a result.

Lacoste is a French clothing company that was founded in 1933. The company’s products focus mainly on luxury shoes, male and female apparel, fragrances, and of course their trademark polo shirt. They are most widely recognized by their green crocodile logo.

If you associate the Lacoste crocodile logo with tennis (consciously or not) there is a good reason for that. The company’s founder, René Lacoste, was a world champion tennis player. He won the US Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon multiple times. His determination and perseverance on the court led to the nickname of “the crocodile” by his most avid fans.

Our work with Lacoste involved live screen-printing at one of their most recent store openings in the US. Lacoste has a powerful global presence of boutique clothing stores. Because of this presence, we were very excited for the opportunity to be a part of an organization at their level. People from all over the world got their first experience in live event screen-printing.

These are the types of events that we at Rival get pretty excited about because they are ones that involve bringing an exciting new store into the country and sharing the concept of live event screen printing with an excited crowd. Since most of the people in attendance are heavily involved in the fashion industry, the level of appreciation for the craft we specialize in was even greater.
